A STUDY TO COMPARE A LEVEL OF HAPPINESS AMONG THE ELDERLY STUDYING IN SCHOOLS FOR THE ELDERLY AND THOSE LIVING IN NONG PRUE MUNICIPALITY, AMPHOE BANGLAMUNG CHON BURI PROVINCE

Abstract

The purposes of this study were to study a level of happiness among the elderly studying in schools for the elderly and those living in Nong Prue Municipality and to compare a level of happiness among the elderly studying in schools for the elderly and those living in Nong Prue Municipality. The sample of this study were 140 subjects participating in this study comprised 70 aging people who were studying in schools for the elderly and 70 aging people who were living the Nong Prue community.  The instrument used to collect the data was the questionnaire. The statistical tests used to analyze the collected data included frequency, percentage, , SD and independent sample t-test to test hypothesis.

The results of the study revealed that the mean score for the level of happiness as demonstrated by the elderly studying in schools for the elderly was at 4.62, the mean score for happiness among those living in the community was at 4.36 (the 6-point scale). Based on the results from the test of hypotheses, there was a statistically significant difference in the level of happiness among the elderly studying in schools for the elderly and those living in Nong Prue Municipality at a significant level of .05.
