Abstract

This paper presents the result of research about the wars between Ayothaya and Angkor Thom in the 19th-20th centuries B.E. (ca. 15th-16th centuries C.E.). Using evidence from Thai, Khmer and western historical documents, the author checked data regarding the events, causes, and results of the wars. The findings indicate that although the wars are important in Thai and Khmers battle histories, their outcomes did not result in the collapse of the old central power of the Cambodian kingdom, as previously understood.
