Lives and Experiences of Lao Students Through Transnational Migration in Thailand

Abstract
This article deals with transnational migratory lived experiences of Lao students who migrate to study in the universities of Thailand. Its methodology is to apply Aihwa Ong’s ideas about transnationalism along with ethnographic research. The study found that Lao transmigratory students can utilize their experience in the country’s development process in the new age, and improve their living position through knowledge and education. It also revealed that the difference of life status and background of Lao students has an important infl uence on the transnational migratory process, ways of life and adjustment while living in Thailand.
