The Career Attitude of Students in Faculty of Veterinary Science, Mahidol University

Abstract

The research studied career attitudes: (1) knowledge of oneself, (2) knowledge of the career, and (3) preparation for the career, of the students at the Faculty of Veterinary Science, Mahidol University (MUVS). The participants of the study were the students in the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Program, Faculty of Veterinary Science, Mahidol University, of the academic year 2019. The participants were divided into groups by their year of study. The data were collected from 224 students using questionnaires, which had two separate parts: (1) general information and (2) the career attitudes: knowledge of oneself, knowledge of the career, and preparation for the career. The data were analyzed for the percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The research found that the majority of the sample population is female. The reason students chose to study in the program is the intention to become a professional veterinarian.  The activities that students gave first attention and chose to participate in are the academic-and-veterinary professional development activities. The career attitude of the students is at a high level (  = 4.11), while the 6^th-year students have the highest level of career attitude with an average of 4.21
