บทคัดย่อ

         บทความนี้ศึกษาภาพของแม่เลี้ยงเดี่ยวในภาพยนตร์สั้น StigMa Lea และ Kabut Semalam โดยใช้การวิเคราะห์ตัวบทผ่านกรอบแนวคิดสตรีนิยมคลื่นลูกที่สามและสตรีนิยมอิสลาม เพื่อวิเคราะห์ “อำนาจในการเลือก” ของผู้หญิงมลายูมุสลิมในบริบทที่แตกต่างกันอย่างชัดเจน ใน StigMa Lea ลียาดำรงชีวิตในเมืองใหญ่ของสิงคโปร์ เลือกประกาศอัตลักษณ์ใหม่ในฐานะ single mom และปฏิเสธคำว่า “janda” (หญิงหย่าร้าง) เพื่อท้าทายค่านิยมชายเป็นใหญ่ ขณะที่ใน Kabut Semalam มัสตูรากลายเป็นแม่เลี้ยงเดี่ยวหลังสูญเสียสามีจากอุบัติเหตุ อาศัยอยู่ในชนบทของมาเลเซีย ใช้ความเงียบและศรัทธาเป็นกลยุทธ์ในการต่อรองกับการตีตราทางสังคม ทั้งสองตัวละครแสดงให้เห็นว่าความเป็นแม่ไม่จำเป็นต้องผูกกับการมีคู่ชีวิต แต่คือภาวะผู้นำที่เชื่อมโยงกับความรักความรับผิดชอบ และการเลี้ยงดูลูกให้เติบโตอย่างมีศักดิ์ศรี บทวิเคราะห์นี้เสนอว่า ภาพยนตร์มลายูร่วมสมัยกำลังเปลี่ยนภาพของแม่เลี้ยงเดี่ยวจาก “ผู้หญิงที่ต้องได้รับการเติมเต็ม” ไปสู่ “ผู้หญิงที่มีอำนาจและคุณค่าในตัวเอง”
