การวิเคราะห์การแปลภาวะพันธุ์ผสมเชิงสัญลักษณ์และเชิงรูปแทนในวรรณกรรม เรื่อง Beloved และ Things Falls Apart เป็นภาษาไทย

งานวิจัยชิ้นนี้มีจุดประสงค์ในการศึกษาบทแปลภาษาไทยของวรรณกรรมยุคหลังอาณานิคมและวรรณกรรมแอฟริกัน-อเมริกันซึ่งมีภาวะพันธุ์ผสมทางภาษาเป็นลักษณะพิเศษ โดยอาศัยกรอบแนวคิดเรื่องภาวะพันธุ์ผสมเชิงสัญลักษณ์และภาวะพันธุ์ผสมเชิงรูปแทนในการเล่าเรื่องของคลิงเกอร์ (Klinger 2015) เพื่ออธิบายความตั้งใจของนักเขียนและนักแปลในการขืนขนบภาษาอังกฤษด้วยการใช้ภาษาผิดมาตรฐาน ผลการวิจัยพบว่า นักแปลไทยไม่อาจรักษาการแสดงภาวะพันธุ์ผสมทางภาษาในต้นฉบับไว้ได้อย่างเด่นชัด เนื่องจากบทแปลปรากฏกลวิธีการแปลแบบเพิ่มการลดแรงกระแทกและใช้ภาษาแบบถูกไวยากรณ์ไทย ความตั้งใจของต้นฉบับในการขืนขนบการใช้ภาษาอังกฤษแบบมาตรฐานจึงหายไปจากบทแปล อย่างไรก็ดี นักแปลและผู้กระทำการแปลอื่น ๆ อาจไม่ได้มองว่าภาวะพันธุ์ผสมทางภาษาที่พบในต้นฉบับเป็นปัญหาหลักในการแปล จึงเลือกที่จะนำเสนอแก่นเรื่องของต้นฉบับมากกว่าภาวะพันธุ์ผสมดังกล่าว
