Abstract

This research surveys and examines the research status in the Chinese academic sector regarding overseas Chinese in Thailand over the past six decades. It gathered research articles, academic articles, and graduate theses that were published in complete form from 1962 to 2023. The research found that researchers in the Chinese Academic Sector studying overseas Chinese in Thailand have consistently published their works. From 1962 to 2023, 33 research works were identified, with the topics of greatest interest being the activities of Chinese associations and societies in Siam, followed by the economy and trade between China and Siam, Thai government policies towards China, and cultural exchanges between China and Siam, in that order. This article illustrates the evolution of research on overseas Chinese in Siam, starting from translations presented by western scholars to the production of research works by Chinese scholars. However, research in this area within the Chinese academic sector is still relatively scarce compared to overseas Chinese in other regions. Since 2007, several new topics have been introduced, offering diverse perspectives, adopting interdisciplinary approaches, and delving deeper into research content.
