Factors Related to Participation of Director of Sub-district Health Promoting Hospital in District Strategy Planning Formulation in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province

Abstract

The health strategic planning is an important process for health developing in this country. There are many factors involved and impacted for developing health strategic planning. This cross-sectional descriptive research aimed to study 1) the personal characteristics, knowledge, attitude, and behaviors of Director of Sub-district Health Promoting Hospital in Nakhon  Si Thammarat Province. 2) the participation of Director of Sub-district Health Promoting Hospital for district health strategic planning. 3) the relationship between personal factors, knowledge, attitude, behaviors and participation on Director of Sub-district Health Promoting Hospital to formulate the district strategic planning and 4) problems, obstacles and recommendation about district health strategic plan formulation.    

            The study sample were 154 directors of Sub-district Health Promoting Hospital by electing with systematic random sampling method from 251 Sub-district Health Promoting Hospital. Data were collected by using the questionnaires. The reliability of questionnaires was 0.92. Statistics for data analysis were descriptive statistics, Chi -Square’s test and Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation Coefficient.

            The study result were 1) the participation of Director of Sub-district Health Promoting Hospital were at a high level; 2) Director of Sub-district Health Promoting Hospital’ s knowledge about health strategic planning were at a high level, the attitude and their working behaviors were  positive for health strategic planning; 3) the personal characteristic factors such as gender, age,  education, working period in Sub-district Health Promoting Hospital and working duration as a Director of Sub-district Health Promoting Hospital had no relationship with doing the health  strategic planning; While knowledge the attitude and their working behaviors were related to formulate the health strategic planning at statistical significant level of 0.001; and 4) the problems and obstacles that  pointed by Director of Sub-district Health Promoting Hospital were 1) delayed timing for doing the district health strategic planning 2) lack of knowledge and skill for strategic planning. The suggestions were doing the district health strategic planning in early budget year and workshop training courses were needed to improve their knowledge and skill.
