The Influence of Motivational Factors on Teacher Commitment at High-Altitude Schools under the Jurisdiction of Chiang Rai Primary Educational Service Area Office 4

This study aimed to: (1) examine the motivation of teachers at the high-altitude schools, (2) investigate their organizational commitments, and (3) develop a regression model of motivational factors influencing teacher commitment. Quantitative research design was employed, using a questionnaire as the research instrument. The sample comprised 136 teachers selected from a population of 208 teachers at 12 schools under the Chiang Rai Primary Educational Service Area Office 4. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics mean and standard deviation and stepwise multiple regression analysis.
The research results were as follows:
- Teachers’ motivation regarding motivator factors was at a high level ( = 4.38, S.D = 0.38)
- Teachers’ motivation regarding hygiene factors was also at a high level (= 4.46, S.D = 0.67)
- Teachers’ overall organizational commitment was found to be high level
(= 4.32, S.D = 0.63) - Both motivational factors (b = 0.367) and maintenance factors (b = 0.469) significantly affected the engagement of teachers at the schools in highland areas under the Chiang Rai Primary Educational Service Area Office 4, at a statistical significance level of 0.05. These factors were able to predict 60.40% of the motivation impacting on the teacher engagement.
