Development of Tourism Applications for The Elderly and Disabled Groups

This research aims to 1) study tourism applications specifically designed for elderly and disabled users and 2) determine development guidelines for the second phase of the Smart DASTA application to accommodate elderly and disabled users. This study employs qualitative research methodology by examining tourism applications serving elderly or disabled users in Thailand and abroad. The research instruments included a survey form and focus group discussions with application development experts and relevant stakeholders. Data was analyzed using content analysis to identify applicable approaches for the development of the Smart DASTA application phase 2.
The findings reveal that 1) tourism applications serving elderly and disabled users are quite diverse. Each application emphasizes providing easily accessible information and focuses on facilitating assistance through community volunteers to enable these users to travel independently with convenience. 2) the development guidelines of Smart DASTA application phase two, the research suggests adhering to user-friendly design principles, implementing an easily understandable accessibility classification system for locations, providing real-time information through online chat systems, establishing a volunteer support system for users, and allowing users to participate in updating tourism site information. Relevant agencies can utilize these research findings as guidelines for formulating policies that support digital technology development and inclusive service design addressing the comprehensive needs of target user populations.
