Self-Improvement Needs of Faculty at College of Arts, Media and Technology, Chiang Mai University

This research article aimed to 1. study the current problems in self-development,
2. examine the self-development needs, and 3. explore solutions to the issues surrounding the self-development of the faculty at the College of Arts, Media, and Technology, Chiang Mai University. This study employed a quantitative research methodology using a survey approach. The population consisted of 63 faculty members from the College of Arts, Media, and Technology, Chiang Mai University who responded to the questionnaire. The data were analyzed using statistical software to calculate percentages and standard deviations. The findings revealed that personal factors influencing problems in self-development included age, while the factors influencing self-development needs were job position, which showed statistical significance in relation to training and seminars. Years of employment had statistical significance in relation to teaching and training and seminars. Current salary showed statistical significance in relation to training and seminars. The study identified five areas of self-development needs: teaching, training and seminars, research, achieving academic positions, and conducting post-doctoral research. The overall level of self-development needs was high.
