Abstract

      This research aimed to study (1) the factors of job characteristics, work motivation and organizational commitment of the Government Savings Bank employees in Chiang Mai province, (2) study the factors of job characteristics and work motivation affecting their organizational commitments. This research used a quantitative method by a questionnaire collection of 285 Government Savings Bank employees in Chiang Mai province. The statistical instruments were frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and hypothesis testing by testing the difference between the means of 2 sample groups, one-way analysis of variance, and multiple regression analysis.

            The results of the study found that (1) the motivation to work in terms of compensation had the highest mean value, followed by stability and advancement, and relationships with coworkers. As for the factor of job characteristics, the readiness for change had the highest mean value, followed by challenge in work, freedom in work, and organizational commitment of the Government Savings Bank employees in Chiang Mai province at a high level overall. (2) Work motivation in terms of compensation, relationship with coworkers, and work characteristics, readiness for change, and freedom in work affected their commitments at a significance level of 0.05.
