A Study of the Components of the Competency of Early Childhood Teachers

This research aimed to study the components of early childhood teacher competency. The research method was to study 10 documents, to synthesize the components, and to evaluate their appropriateness. The research process was divided into two steps: component synthesis of early childhood teacher competency by studying 10 documents, theories, and related research studies; and evaluation of their appropriateness by five experts. The research instruments were document synthesis form, and a 5-level rating scale questionnaire. The statistical tools used for data analysis were frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The research results showed that there were four components of early childhood teacher competency: 1) morality, ethics, and professional ethics; 2) classroom management; 3) curriculum administration and learning management; and 4) self-development. All components were at the most appropriate level.
