This research article aimed to study the factors affecting the incompletion of research projects by personnel at the College of Arts, Media and Technology (CAMT). The data were collected from research projects requesting extensions and those not completed within the specified timeframe, utilizing a survey research methodology. Data were gathered from the project leaders and from memorandum records requesting an extension of the project duration. The sample group consisted of 145 operational staff members at the College of Arts, Media and Technology, Chiang Mai University. They were selected/sampled from personnel receiving research grants from the revenue budget (Faculty Research Fund), covering 50 projects from the fiscal years 2018 to 2023. The data were analyzed using means (mean) and percentages (percentage).
The study found that the factors contributing to research incompletion were the following. 1) Researcher-Related Factors (Highest Level): Heavy teaching and workload responsibilities prevented researchers from allocating sufficient time to complete the project as planned. 2) Budget-Related Factors (Highest Level): Limited annual support from the faculty led to inadequate budget allocation for research activities. 3) Time-Related Factors (Highest Level): Due to heavy workloads and overlapping tasks, researchers often forgot report submission schedules, causing delays in project completion. 4) Location and Equipment Factors (Highest Level): The faculty provides adequate facilities, data storage, documentation, and databases to support research implementation.
