Strategies for Strengthening the Capacity of Community Learning Centers for Sustainable Resource Management: A Case Study of Nong Luang Subdistrict Community Learning Center, Roi Et Province

Abstract

          This research aimed to investigate approaches and strategies for enhancing the capacity of community learning centers for sustainable resource management, using the Nong Luang Subdistrict Community Learning Center in Selaphum District, Roi Et Province, as a case study. This was a qualitative research study employing 20 key informants. The research instrument was a semi-structured questionnaire, and data were collected through focus group discussions. The qualitative data obtained were analyzed using thematic analysis.

           The research findings revealed that upgrading community learning centers for the sustainable resource management can be driven by four main strategies: 1) strengthening the capacity of leaders and community knowledge networks through participatory approaches, emphasizing collaborative learning and role distribution to create multiplier trainers and reduce dependence on individuals; 2) managing knowledge and upgrading innovation based on local resources through the application of knowledge from universities combined with local wisdom to create practical applications; 3) building multilateral cooperation and long-term policy mechanisms through Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) and incorporating the center's activities into local development plans; and 4) creating a value chain within the community, focusing on a circular economy system to reduce costs and increase resource value.
