This research article aimed to study the components of participatory school management. It was an exploratory study employing document analysis, conducted in two steps: 1) reviewing 10 relevant documents and research studies published between 2017 and 2023, in order to analyze and synthesize components that appeared with a frequency of at least 5 times or 50%; and 2) evaluating the appropriateness of the identified components of participatory school management by 5 experts. The research instruments included a document synthesis form and a five-point Likert-scale questionnaire. Statistical methods used were frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation.
The results revealed six components of participatory school management: 1) mutual trust, 2) joint goal and objective setting, 3) autonomy in practice, 4) commitment and engagement, 5) participation in decision-making, and 6) participation in evaluation. All six components were rated at the highest level of appropriateness. The findings of this study can serve as a framework for developing participatory school management to systematically enhance efficiency and improve the quality of education.
