Abstract

The objectives of this research article were: 1) to assess the needs for promoting the digital literacy skills among students at the schools under Sakon Nakhon Primary Educational Service Area Office 1, and 2) to study the proposed guidelines for promoting the digital literacy skills at these schools. This research used a survey. The sample comprised 333 school administrators and teachers from the schools under Sakon Nakhon Primary Educational Service Area Office 1 in the academic year 2024, selected using multi-stage sampling. The research instruments included 1) a questionnaire on the current and desired states of students’ digital literacy skills, and 2) a questionnaire on guidelines for promoting the digital literacy skills. Data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and the Modified Priority Need Index (PNImodified).

The research findings revealed that 1) the needs assessment for promoting the students’ digital literacy skills, as indicated by the PNImodified, was 0.528. When individual aspects were considered, an aspect with the highest level was digital media creation skill, followed by communication skill, analytical thinking skill, socio-awareness skill, digital technology usage skill, and information literacy skill, respectively. 2) The proposed guidelines for promoting the digital literacy skills were categorized into two aspects: digital media creation consisting of 10 approaches and communication consisting of 12 approaches. The appropriateness and feasibility of both aspects were at a high level.
