Teacher Development for Encouraging Students’ Advanced Thinking under Sukhothai Secondary Educational Service Area Office

This research article’s objectives were: 1 to assess the need for teacher development for encouraging higher-level thinking among students; 2)to study teacher development for encouraging higher-level thinking among students, under the Sukhothai Secondary Educational Service Area Office. It was integrative research. The sample group consisted of 4 school administrators, 156 teachers, a total of 160 people, and 12 experts.The research tools were questionnaires and interviews Statistical instruments were percentage, mean, standard deviation.Requirement priority index value and analyze content.
The results of the research showed the following. 1) There was a need for the teacher development for promoting the higher-level thinking among students. Arranged from the highest to lowest, they were teacher development evaluations, determining of the need for teacher development, teacher development planning, and teacher development activities. 2) For the teacher development to promote the higher-level thinking of students, it was found that determining the need for teacher development, teachers' problems in organizing learning for promoting the higher-order thinking skills, creating manuals of the teacher development planning budget planning, implementing the teacher development activities, establishing the policy stimulating the advanced analytical thinking, evaluation of teacher development, forming a committee to monitor and evaluate teacher development, according to the annual action plan or educational quality development plan. They kept monitoring and evaluating to increase efficiency in the teacher development.
