The Study of Quality of Life among Kasetsart University Students

Abstract

          The purposes of this research were: 1) to analyze the levels of the quality of life among Kasetsart University students; 2) to compare demographic factors affecting the students' levels of quality of life; and 3) to study the needs for improving the life quality of Kasetsart University students. The samples of this research were 400 undergraduate students studying at Kasetsart University in the academic year 2022. The research tools were a five -point rating scale questionnaire and an open-ended questionnaire. The data was analyzed by the following tools:1) descriptive statistical analysis: frequency distribution, percentage, arithmetic mean and standard deviation; and 2) inferential statistical data analysis: hypothesis testing, t-test, one-way analysis of variance and multiple comparisons with statistical significance at the 0.05 level.

           The research findings showed that the quality of life of undergraduate students at Kasetsart University in all 5 aspects was at a high level. With consideration of each aspect, the social aspect was at the highest level, followed by environment and education respectively. Hypothesis testing findings revealed that different demographic factors (sex, year of study, grade point average (GPA), and monthly income) did not affect the quality of students' lives. The different demographic factors that affected the quality of students' lives were faculty and accommodation. The needs for improving the life quality were as the followings: physical the students wanted to have excellent health; emotional more happiness; social activity or place for socialize; education the students wanted to develop their knowledge and abilities; environment the university provided a natural environment and no pollution; and others the students wanted to have enough money to cover expenses.
