The Relationship between Strategic Leadership and the Effectiveness of Educational Management among the School Administrators under the Chiang Rai Municipality

Abstract

          This research aimed to study: 1) the level of strategic leadership of school administrators under the Chiang Rai Municipality, 2) the effectiveness of school management by school administrators under the Chiang Rai Municipality, and 3) the relationship between strategic leadership and effectiveness of school management by the school administrators under the Chiang Rai Municipality. The study group consisted of the municipal school teachers, and educational personnel under the Chiang Rai Municipality, totally 181 people from 8 schools. The research tool used in this study was a questionnaire with a 5-point Likert scale, consisting of 3 parts. Part 1 was a questionnaire regarding the respondents' demographic information; part 2 was a questionnaire on the level of strategic leadership of school administrators under the Chiang Rai Municipality; and part 3 was a questionnaire on the effectiveness of school management by school administrators under the Chiang Rai Municipality. The reliability values of the research were 0.918 and 0.916, respectively. The statistical analysis used in this study included frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and Pearson correlation coefficient analysis.

           The research findings showed that: 1) the overall level of strategic leadership of education administrators under Chiang Rai Municipal Administration was high, with an average of mean = 4.30 and standard deviation = 0.58; 2) the overall level of effectiveness in managing educational institutions of education administrators under Chiang Rai Municipal Administration was high, with an average of mean = 4.37 and standard deviation = 0.57; and 3) there was a significant positive correlation between strategic leadership and effectiveness in managing educational institutions of education administrators under Chiang Rai Municipal Administration at a statistically significant level of .01. (r = 0.827, P<.01)
