The Needs Assessment for Capability Enhancement in Creative Writing Teaching by Students of Teacher Education

The objectives of this research were to assess and prioritize the needs for capability enhancement of the students of teacher education in the creative writing teaching.
The sample consisted of the 1st -5th year students of Thai language teacher education, obtained by a multi-stage random sampling method. The research instrument was a double-response questionnaire. Data analysis and descriptive statistics were used: frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation; and Modified Priority Needs Index (PNImodified) technique was used to rank the needs. The research findings showed that the needs for capability enhancement of the students of teacher education in the creative writing teaching were overall with a (PNImodified) index value of 0.14. It was necessary to develop them. Considering side by side, a researcher found two essential aspects: capability of creative writing and capability for teaching creative writing of creative writing teaching. These aspects were with the same (PNImodified) index (0.14). It was urgent to develop them simultaneously.
