Academic Leadership of School Administrators at Small Schools under the Office of Uttaradit Primary Educational Service Area 2

This research article The objective was to study the needs and guidelines for developing academic leadership of school administrators at small schools. under the Office of Uttaradit Primary Educational Service Area 2. The population used in the research were 329 school administrators and teachers. The sample used in the research consisted of 56 school administrators and 160 teachers in a total of 216 people; and the target group had 17 experts. The tools used were questionnaires, interview forms, and group meeting recordings. The statistical tools used to analyze the data were mean, standard deviation and content analysis.
The results of the research revealed that the need for the development of academic leadership of school administrators at the small schools. under the Office of Uttaradit Primary Educational Service Area, Region 2, had all 5 aspects, in descending order: educational supervision; statements of school vision, mission and goals; curriculum management; academic atmosphere enhancement; and professional development promotion. Guidelines for developing academic leadership in educational supervision requires planning, coordinating with experts, and building of a mutual supervision network. For the school mission and goals, they must study the information and context of the educational institution, and analyze the parent agency’s policy emphasizing participation. For the curriculum management, they must consider the importance of development and knowledge about the curriculum planning, and course implementation. For the academic atmosphere enhancement, they must study the achievements of learners, and their goals, acquire resources from various departments, and build partnerships with network groups. Also, for the professional development promotion, the personals must be encouraged for their advancements; the need surveys for the teachers and educational institutions must be done for the sake of mutual development.
