The E-Wallet Use Behavior of the Elderly

Abstract

          The purposes of this study were to study 1)acceptance and technology use, 2) attitude, 3) electronic wallet use behavior, 4) to compare the E-Wallet use behavior of the elderly classified by personal data, 5) acceptance and technology use affecting e-wallet usage behavior, and 6) the attitude impact on E-wallet use behavior of the elderly. The sampling group consisted of 400 elderly people; the statistical tools were Chi-square, and multiple regression analysis.

           The finding indicated that most respondents were: female, aged 60 - 69, with primary school education, unemployed, average monthly income (less than 20,001 baht), and living with a family. Acceptance of the use of technology and attitudes towards electronic wallet applications of the elderly were at a significant level.  The family members recommended them to use it. They used it to pay goods and services by True Money.  Also, they preferred to buy consumer products. Convenience stores involved with the E-Wallet use of the elderly for the convenient and fast payment process. They spent time between 18:00 - 20:00 at home on online shopping services with an average frequency of three times per month. The average cost was 169.98 baht per time. The different personnel of ages, education levels, occupations, and average monthly incomes had impact on the behaviors of using electronic wallet applications among the elderly. Acceptance and use of technology in terms of user expectations affected the behavior of using e-wallet applications of the elderly; also, their attitudes in terms of perception influenced this behavior significantly at the .05 level.
