Technique Development and Creative Processes for Increasing Product Values at the Right Livelihood Community in Phrae Province

Abstract

          The purposes of this study were: 1. to develop a curriculum for the products of at the Right Livelihood Community; 2. to improve techniques and creative processes for increasing product values; and 3. to present a product development curriculum A research and development (R&D) approach was used; the 25 key informants consisted of community leaders, scholars and specialists in education and curriculum design, local sages, and people living in the community.

           The results indicated as follows.

  1. The development steps of the Right Livelihood Community products were: 1.problem and community need analysis; 2.determination of curriculum goals and objectives; 3.selection and organization of content curriculum aligning with its goals and objectives; 4.selection of training program’s activities and experiences; 5. determination of training program duration; 6. curriculum draft; and 7. curriculum review.
  2. The techniques and product creation processes for increasing product values at the Right Livelihood Community were: 1. investigating the needs of community products; 2. designing product patterns; 3. developing products prototype; 4. bringing products to market; 5. transferring knowledge and skills; and 6. networking.
  3. In terms of the presentation regarding the training program curriculum, it consisted of two training programs: the creative teak products and the creation of traditional Thai teak tray. The curriculum was based on developing self and others, including community contexts and environment. Active learning, which learners learn through self-practice, was integrated into activities. In order to be prototypes for other product expansions, the making processes of octagonal trays, movable thrones, and traditional Thai trays were presented.
