Guidelines for Developing Professional Learning Community: Collaborative Development of Lessons for Teachers of Secondary Schools in Uttaradit Province

The objectives of this research were: 1) to study the problem conditions and desires of developing professional learning community by the collaborative development of lessons for teachers of secondary schools in Uttaradit province; and 2) to study guidelines for developing professional learning community by the collaborative development of lessons for teachers of secondary schools in Uttaradit province. The first sample group of 267 teachers was used for studying the issues and requirements in the professional learning community, through the lessons from the secondary school teachers in Uttaradit province, stratified for sampling and determined the proportion according to the number of teachers in each school. The second sample group was used for studying the guidelines for developing professional learning communities: eight secondary school teachers in Uttaradit province, one university professor, one educational supervisor, three school administrators, and three teachers specifically chosen. Both the questionnaire about problem conditions and needs, and the structured interview were used as research instruments. The data analyses were processed by using averaging, standard deviation, and content analysis.
The results revealed that the problem condition of the professional learning community development through collaborative development of lessons for the secondary school teachers in Uttaradit province was at a high level; and there were high requirements. The guidelines for developing professional learning communities through collaborative development of the lessons for the secondary school teachers in Uttaradit province include: 1)defining objectives for cooperative lesson planning; 2)collaborative planning for developing learning lessons; and 3)implementation for the learning management development by the collaboration.
