The Procedure for the Care Provision at Nursing Homes under the Direction of a Local Administrative Organization

Abstract

          The purposes of this research were: to study the problems and obstacles for the services provision, and to discover a procedure for the care provision at nursing homes under the direction of a local administrative organization.

           A sample of 166 people working at nursing homes under the direction of a local administrative organization provided data through the questionnaires; 7 people were interviewed. The mixed methods researches (quantitative and qualitative analyses) were used. Also, the statistical tools were the percentage, frequency, and means.

           The results of this study showed that they did not have enough staff at the nursing homes; the operations were passive rather than active. Moreover, they did not have sufficient budgets for serving seniors. The service provision procedure at the nursing homes under the direction of the local administrative organization was to require nutritious diets and enough food for the elderly. Moreover, they should arrange professional nurses and physical therapists for general health services. The elderly should be informed of the health, disease prevention, and dementia; also, the staffs were given the trainings of caring for the bedridden and terminally-ill patients. Moreover, the funeral services based on religions should be provided.

           It is suggesting that the provisions of the various services should be given to the elderly in all aspects. Establishing a volunteer project of the elderly cares and promoting the mental health should be created.  Also, the potentials of families and communities for supporting the elderly, and the food budgets should be increased. Moreover, the community people should be asked for the food materials and ingredients; the funds of the religion-based funeral service should be determined.
