Innovative Model of Knowledge Management for Public Interest Organization in the Elderly: A Case Study in Songkhla Province

The objectives of this research were: to 1) study the context and current knowledge management situations; 2) develop an innovative model of knowledge management for public interest organizations; and 3) study the operating result in the elderly service. It was a mixed method research: a quantitative way-a questionnaire survey for five public interest organizations; and as a qualitative one a collection of interviews with key informants (the chairperson of the public interest organizations, the elderly, volunteers, and other stakeholders attending activities with public interest organizations).
The research results showed that the sampling group agreed with a need for knowledge management to develop future aging activities; they were interested to participate in promoting knowledge management and developing future activities for the elderly. The knowledge came insightfully from the current elderly members and those doing the knowledgment. A knowledge management innovation created by the public interest organizations in the elderly can reduce the obstacles and problems at the present. However, they need time for implementing and developing the innovation appropriate for the context of the elderly in Songkhla Province.
