Influence of Political Party Affecting People’s Voting Decision In General Election in Bangkok

Abstract

The objectives of this research were: 1. to study the general conditions of influence of political party affecting people’s voting decision in general election in  Bangkok; 2. to study the components of influence of political party affecting people’s voting decision in general election in Bangkok; and 3. to present the development of components of influence of political party affecting people’s voting decision in general election in Bangkok by integrating with Sangaha Vatthu Dhamma (principles of service). Qualitative research methodology was used by in-depth interviews with 27 key informants and a focus group discussion of nine specialists. Data analysis was explanatory and descriptive.

          The results of research were showed:

  1. General conditions of influence of political party affecting people’s voting decision in general election in Bangkok were: the nature of a political party with good policies and results; a good-image party leader; a large and well-known party; and the party favored by those eligible to vote.
  2. Components of political party influence of political party affecting people’s voting decision in general election in Bangkok were making the political party influential: a political party with good policies and results; a good-image party leader a large and well-known political party; and a political party favored by those eligible to vote.
  3. The development of components of influence of political party affecting people’s voting decision in general election in Bangkok was an integration with Sangaha Vatthu Dhamma (principles of service), resulting in the political party influences with morality : the party had a policy satisfying the needs of most people; its party leader and people were negotiating with credibility; the party had a reputation for honesty that people could see and perceive; and the party was reaching people, and the people could access it.
