Action research methodoloy was employed in this qualitative study. The sample was 11 grade 4 students which were selected by purposive random sampling. An active learning: GWM manual which was certified for quality from experts was used in this study. Qualitative data were analyzed in the form of description according to the research objectives. Results were as follows: 1. Knowledge development capability, it was found that the students were able to indicate and explain the meaning of Thai diphthong, and were able to do better in concluding the main ideas of reading, both prose and poem. The students could also distinguish between the real and unreal diphthongs correctly. After mind mapping activity, it was found that most of the students were able to conclude the content correctly and fluently, except one student who needed encouragement and more explaination from the teacher. 2. Skill development capability, it was found that the students were able to play diphthong lesson games and connected the knowledge to the next lesson. They had improved their diphthong reading skills through practicing various difficulty levels of diphthong worksheets. These helped the students to read the diphthong confidently, correctly and rapidly. 3. Attitude development capability, it was found that starting a class with game warming could arouse the student attention to the lesson. It could enhance student enthusiasm and interests. Therefore, they would like to participate in class activities intently and committedly. Moreover, they were generous to others and involved happily in class activities.</p> ER -
