The birth of a daughter caused ruin to the family. However, when women turned into mothers, they would not be judged with such harsh prejudice. This study examines the attitude towards Italian women as shown through proverbs portraying the majority of the <em>gentil sesso</em> as weak, incapable and wicked, while mothers are the only figures who are praised, respected and positively regarded.</p>}, number={1}, journal={Journal of Letters}, author={Faengyong, Wilasinee}, year={2021}, month={Jun.}, pages={83–104} }
