VL - 14 IS - 1 SE - Research Article DO - UR - https://so03.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/jhsc/article/view/256447 SP - 164-189 AB - <p>This research aims to study the condition of problems and the need for information resources of people using the public library, the guidelines for the development of public library information resource services, and the creation of a model for providing information resources for public libraries in Surat Thani Province. Data collection was conducted using mixed methods through questionnaires and surveys. The sample used in data collection comprised 12 administrators and librarians and 540 users of Ban Ta Khun, Chaiya, Chai Buri, Ko Samui, and Chalerm Rajakumari public libraries. The results were analyzed using mean and standard deviation statistics and public library benchmarks. Present the results of the data analysis as a descriptive analysis. The results were found as follows: 1) the current service problems included communication with users and service processes/procedures or motivations to use the service. In addition, they wished for information <br />resources from electronic media and printed media, 2) the first mission-based service development approach was managing informal education and learning resources linking formal and non-formal education following supporting factors for the operation included policy and the public library's role. The relevant direct duty of the public library included promoting literacy, information literacy, and lifelong learning that were firstly required according to standards in terms of information resources that are available, and 3) service models included the primary and secondary services according to standards as a guideline, improvement of the efficiency of service according to the mission, and the primary role in the operation of the public library to service users, communities, administrators, and <br />librarians or service providers deemed appropriate at a high level.</p> ER -
