Possibility of Alienation at University as Experienced by a Specific Group of Myanmar Youths

This research has been done based on the experiences of student participants from Myanmar who are studying their higher education at different university campuses in the upper Myanmar. The responses given by these participants were made to the question: ‘Can you tell me a bit about what university life has been like for you?’ On the basis of their responses, a thematic analysis was conducted that explored how these participants experienced alienation specific to their setting arising from:1) Loneliness because of:a. isolation from peer groups; andb. a lack of pre-existing friendship groups at university;2) Feeling out of place because of:a. demographic differences from peers,b. residing at a great geographic distance from campus; andc. negative self-concepts in relation to others at university;These experiences engendered different (3) coping strategies involving:a. exiting the institution;b. adapting to their experiences of it; orc. hoping that a change in the future will bring better experiences.These themes and sub-themes are related to other works on alienation in higher education. Finally, this research offers a brief consideration of the limitations of the approach taken here, as well as some implications of the findings for higher education providers and stakeholders.

A Study of Learning Achievement Mathematics Learningon Divisionof Pratomsuksa 2 Students Through STAD Technique

The purposes of the research were to compare mathematics learning achievement on division of pratomsuksa 2 students through STAD technique between before and after learning. And between after learning with 70 percentage criterion. Including study pratomsuksa 2 students’ satisfaction toward STAD technique. The sample consisted of 30 pratomsuksa 2 students of Buriram Rajabhat University Demonstration School in second semester of academic year 2019. The research instruments used to collect data were 1) Mathematics lesson plan on division based on STAD technique 2) Mathematics learning achievement test on division 3) Questionnaire of satisfaction of pratomsuksa 2 students towards mathematics taught by STAD technique. Data were statistically analyzed by mean, percentage, standard deviation, and t-test

The results revealed as follows 1) Mathematics learning achievement on division of pratomsuksa 2 students through STAD technique significantly higher than before the experiment with statistically at the level of 0.5 2) Mathematics learning achievement on division of pratomsuksa 2 students through STAD technique higher than the criteria of 70 percent with statistical significance at the level of 0.5 and 3) Pratomsuksa 2 students had the satisfaction towards STAD technique mathematics after being taught by STAD technique at the high level.

Patterns of ICT (Information and Communication Technology) Used by Myanmar EFL Teachers

Abstract

This research reports the results of the study aiming at exploring the patterns of ICT (Information and Communication Technology) used by Myanmar EFL teachers and the factors affecting ICT integration in MyanmarUniversities. A sample of 147 teachers is approached for the purpose of conducting the quantitative through distributing a questionnaire and 33 for qualitative phase of this research through interview survey. Questionnaire including items on demographic information, ICT use at home and University is used in this study. The results reveal a limited use of most ICT applications among teachers at universityhome and University. It is also revealed that though most teachers use computers at home and University nowadays, applications are used by them on a daily or weekly basis, with the rest being limited to monthly, yearly, or rarely used categories. The purposes affecting ICT integration for Myanmar EFL teachers at home and at university were found mostly in the use of social factors, new information, preparation for the teaching and other professional development.

Thai-Myanmar Friendship and Trust in the 21stCentury

As two Buddhist-majority nations sharing a long, common border, Thailand and Myanmar will serve as twin pillars for peace and stability in mainland Southeast Asia in the future. Myanmar–Thailand relations refers to the current and historical relationsbetween Myanmar (also known as Burma) and Thailand. Myanmar has an embassy in Bangkok. Thailand has an embassy in Yangon. Relations between Burma and Thailandfocus mainly on economic integration and trade. For the first time since Myanmar regained its independence, its bilateral ties with Thailand have achieved aunique level of normalcy. As members of ASEAN and several sub-regional organizations, bilateral and collective co-operation in all areas will be further strengthened. With the expansion of cross-border connectivity that links up with regional networks, including the East-West corridor, Myanmar’s economic growth and integration with the region has been accelerate. As Thai-Myanmar relations become more dynamic, they have become mainland Southeast Asia’s most important strategic partners in ASEAN and beyond.

Effectiveness of Project-Based Learning in ImprovingStudents’ Digital Literacy

Digital literacy means having the skills we need to live, learn, and work in a society where communication and access to information is increasingly through digital technologies like internet platforms, social media, and mobile devices. Communication is also a key aspect of digital literacy. This research introduces a term-long project that draws on students’ digital literacy strengths while providing them with opportunities to hone their less developeddigital literacy skills. The design of the project was informed by the principles of project-based learning (PBL). To investigate the effectiveness of this project in improving participants’ skills, the researchers administered a survey to 113 participants in two sections of a course at MyanmarUniversity. The participants indicated that they perceived improvement in their study skills and technology skillsdue to their completion of the project. While the methods used in this project limit its generalizability, it contributes to the limited amount of research available on PBL in the Myanmar context.

Community Designer Development of Mudmee Motifs

Design was learning the process of art composition and design thinking. But weaving was like a knowledge transfer through the creative process of wisdom. Craftsmen , although having wisdom in producing handwoven Mudmee fabrics, had still lacked knowledge of motif design, so they had to create a course to practice the process of community designing Mudmee motifs to be easy to understand and practical in a limited time. That is the technique of designing Mudmee motifs from primary motifs. The results of the test of using the course in a weaving group of 30 people in Saitaku sub-district. Ban Kruat District, Buriram Province found that 100% were able to design Mudmee motifs by themselves. And the course was extended to a weaving group of 80 people in Wang Nuea Subdistrict, Ban Dan District, Krasang Subdistrict, Mueang District and Ban Khu Subdistrict, Na Pho District, Buriram Province, found that 100% of them were able to design Mudmee motifs by themselves. Achieved designs for the production of not less than 5 Mudmee fabrics per sub-district.

Farmers' satisfaction towards organic catfish culture in cages, case study, KhuMueang District, Buriram Province

The purpose of this research was to study the satisfaction of model farmers in raising organic catfish in cages, in KhuMueang District,Buriram Province.Conducting a questionnaire survey with 30 model farmers raising organic catfish in cages during July 2021. It was found that most of the model farmers were both male and female, representing 50 percent. Most of the model farmers were in agebetween the ages of 41-50 years, 46.7% had the highest average level of overall satisfaction (=4.50, S.D. = 0.45). The highest was the quality of activities (=4.58, S.D. = 0.47), followed by the facilities(=4.56, S.D. = 0.52), and the working group (=4.48, S.D. = 0.60) and process steps in the activities(=4.44, S.D. = 0.50), respectively.The present studies suggest that raisingorganic catfish in cages was highly satisfied by the model agriculture in KhuMueang District,Buriram Province.It can be raised as a supplementary occupation or main occupation of agriculture in fishery, and increases the food supply in the household and in the community. Food security in the community and may have a lot of additional income for the agriculture in the community in the future.

Information Seeking Behavior of University Students and their Knowledge about the Library Resources and Services

This research has been undertaken to determine the university students’information seeking behavior and their knowledge about the library resources and services in Myanmar Higher Education Institutions. The study has tried to find out how the integration of the Internet has affected theinformation searching habit on students.Empirical data were collected on the information searching behavior of thestudents in Myanmar.Questionnaire method has been applied to collect primary data from the 200 fulltime students of which 113 have been returned which is the exact number ofquestionnaires tabulated for the study.After tabulating and analyzing the data the findings of the study indicated thatthe guidance in the use of library resources and services is necessary tohelp students meet some of the information requirements. It is also found that librarybooks, e-journals and Internet are the most popular source of information for thecourse work as well as research and the place of Google in the student’s informationbehavior is prominent.This study has also tried to point towards that aspect of the library where it could educate its users by giving orientation so they can become an accurate searcher and make use of the right information at the right time.
