An Analysis of the Promotion and Development of the Quality of Life of Persons with Disabilities Based on the Principles of Sustainable Development Case Study Promoting Employment Opportunities and Job Placement for Persons with Disabilities in Thailand

Abstract

          This research article aimed to 1) examine the principles of sustainable development related to promoting employment opportunities and the hiring of persons with disabilities in accordance with international standards; 2) study and analyze the laws, measures, policies, and programs governing the promotion of employment opportunities and the hiring of persons with disabilities in Thailand in alignment with sustainable development principles; and 3) propose policy recommendations and practical guidelines to enhance employment opportunities and the hiring of persons with disabilities in support of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It was qualitative research, using documentary research methods. Data were collected and analyzed through content analysis and comparative analysis.

           The findings indicate that 1) several Sustainable Development Goals specifically Goals 1, 4, 8, 10, 11, 16, and 17 are directly relevant to the promotion of employment opportunities and the hiring of persons with disabilities. 2) Thailand has implemented a range of laws, measures, policies, and programs that are generally aligned with these goals, including the provision of rights and welfare for persons with disabilities and measures designed to support their employment and protect disabled workers. 3) The study further recommends strengthening legal mechanisms, empowering persons with disabilities, improving environments and public services, developing an integrated national database, fostering positive societal attitudes toward persons with disabilities, and enhancing the participation of relevant networks in promoting and advancing the quality of life of persons with disabilities.
