Public Sector Collaboration in Promoting Elderly Well-Being: Khlong Cha-un Subdistrict Municipality, Phanom District, Surat Thani Province

Abstract

          This research aimed 1) to study the collaboration of government agencies in promoting the well-being of older adults in Khlong Cha-un Subdistrict Municipality, Phanom District, Surat Thani Province, and 2) to study the model of elderly well-being management in Khlong Cha-un Subdistrict Municipality, Phanom District, Surat Thani Province. This study employed a qualitative research approach, collecting data from 20 key informants through in-depth interviews. The data were analyzed using triangulation to assess the accuracy and credibility of the information.

           The results revealed that 1) the collaboration of government agencies in promoting the well-being of older adults in Khlong Cha-un Subdistrict Municipality was carried out in an integrated manner, covering four dimensions: the physical dimension focuses on health care and rehabilitation through health checkups, exercise, and nutritional education; the mental dimension emphasized encouragement and stress reduction through elderly clubs, Buddhist activities, and community recreation; the social dimension promoted participation in public activities such as elderly schools and volunteer projects to build networks and reduce isolation; and the intellectual dimension supported lifelong learning and the transmission of local wisdom to enhance self-worth and pride among older adults. 2) The model of elderly well-being management in Khlong Cha-un Subdistrict Municipality focused on holistic development in four aspects: physical well-being promoted through exercise, health checkups, and proper nutrition; mental well-being fostered through recreational activities to boost morale and reduce loneliness; social well-being encouraged through participation in elderly clubs; and intellectual well-being was supported by elderly schools and local wisdom sharing activities for developing develop skills and enhance self-value.
