Abstract

          This article aimed to (1) study the roles of the school administrators under the Office of the Basic Education Commission, Phayao district 2; (2) study their organizational culture and (3) study the relationship between the roles of the school administrators and their organizational culture at the school administration. This study utilized a quantitative sample of 302 students, consisting of 36 school administrators and 266 teachers. The sample consisted of stratified and simple random sampling using lottery. The research instrument was a questionnaire data were analyzed using frequency distributions, percentages, means, standard deviations, and Pearson's product moment correlation tests.

           The results revealed that:

  1. The roles of the school administrators were considered high overall with the consideration of each item individually. The top three items ranked by their highest mean scores were: 1) the role as a student discipline enforcer, 2) the role in reviewing internal policies and procedures, and 3) the role as an evaluator and the role in setting schedules, which all had the same mean scores. The item with the lowest mean score was the role in delegating tasks.
  2. The overall organizational culture at the school administration was at a high level. When considering each item, the top three items ranked by their highest mean scores were: 1) trust and confidence, 2) decision-making, and 3) excellence. The item with the lowest mean score was the objectives of the school.
  3. The analysis of relationship between the role of school administrators and organizational culture in school administration revealed a strong correlation. Specifically,the role of school administrators was found to be highly associated with the organizational culture within school administration.
