This research aimed to propose guidelines for motivating the younger generation at Ban Mueang Kung community, Chiang Mai Province, to sustainably inherit the local pottery wisdom. The key informants included community leaders, young people in the community, and experts with experience related to the research problem. A purposive sampling method was employed to obtain in-depth data, integrated with motivational concepts such as the Two-factor Theory to develop appropriate guidelines through descriptive analysis. The research findings can be summarized as follows:
Enhancement of hygiene factors – Master craftsmen should avoid rushing the training process, instead focusing on step-by-step learning while managing interpersonal relationships with an understanding of generational differences. The community should address the ongoing issue of price-cutting, which discourages young people from inheriting the craft.
Enhancement of motivating factors – These include having responsibilities toward the community by applying learned skills with pride, as well as gaining recognition and remembrance from both inside and outside the community.
Enhancement of work process factors – Providing opportunities for individuals to manage their own working styles until they find the most suitable method and fostering perspectives that reduce anxiety about the future.
Empowerment – Creating a positive environment, providing fair compensation, offering opportunities to learn from specialized organizations, allowing flexible time management, and ensuring that the younger generation feels they are part of the traditional knowledge preservation.
