Waste Management through Community Participation in the Area of Chonburi Province

This research aimed to propose solutions for improving waste management through community participation in Mueang District, Chonburi Province. This study employed qualitative research method, key informants, including (1) Political executives of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, (2) Chonburi Governor, (3) Chonburi Provincial Administrative Organization President, (4) Chonburi Provincial Education Officer, (5) Chonburi Provincial Industry Officer, (6) Director of the Environmental and Pollution Control Office No. 13 (Chonburi), (7) Chonburi District Chief, (8) Chonburi Provincial Public Health Officer, and (9) Environmental academics, totaling 9 people, and focus group with leaders of the local government organizations in Mueang district, Chonburi province and private sector business operators from hotels, hospitals, department stores, fresh markets, etc., totaling 40 people, divided into 4 groups. The research instrument was semi-structured interviews. Data collection was done through in-depth interviews. Data analysis used content analysis.
The findings revealed that solutions should focus on establishing clear policies and regulations, strict law enforcement, and public education through training and learning centers. Improving waste collection points, community waste centers, and integrating technology could enhance efficiency. Encouraging waste-based businesses, fostering collaboration among stakeholders, and implementing incentive systems would further promote sustainable waste management. Continuous monitoring and public reporting would ensure long-term effectiveness and community engagement.
