This research article aimed to study the life history and life experiences of a female youth at a juvenile training and rehabilitation center who reoffended after being released. A qualitative research approach was used, specifically a life history study. The data was collected from one female youth who met the inclusion criteria. Information was gathered through semi-structured interviews, validated for quality. The data was analyzed using thematic analysis and paradigm analysis.
The study found the following. 1. The life history of the reoffending female youth revealed that she came from a broken family and was raised by her grandmother. As she entered an age where she could learn and make decisions, she chose to work as a Muay Thai boxer and a general laborer instead of pursuing education. However, the income she earned was insufficient to support herself, which marked the beginning of her involvement in drug-related activities. 2.Her life experiences showed that her involvement in drug dealing, and use stemmed from family pressure, as she was viewed as a burden. Additionally, her income was not enough to cover living expenses, and she used drugs to relieve stress. She was eventually arrested and sent to the juvenile training and rehabilitation center. After being released and returning to her family and community, she was not accepted and was viewed negatively. Ultimately, she reoffended and was sent back to the same rehabilitation center.
