Language Techniques for Representations of Women in Chommanard Book Prize Novels, during 2020-2023

This article aimed to analyze language techniques for representations of women in sixteen novels, awarded Chommanard Book Prize during 2020 – 2023. It employed qualitative research methods for the novel script analysis. Research findings were reported as a descriptive analysis.
The study found three language techniques for representations of women, as the following. 1) words and phrases 2) figure of speech, and 3) metaphors. They conveyed five representations of women, including pretty women; strong women; knowledge acquiring women; talented women; and grateful women. They were are all images representing the positive side These language techniques used by female writers with the awards of the Chommanard Book Prize,showed representations, when the social context or situation changed, The women could become educated and competent. Representations of modern women were talented, strong, and self-reliant. Women could pursue professions as they wished; they were family's main supporters. In conclusion, the language techniques could create awareness of society toward women; by the roles and powerful language of authors, meanings and representations of women were perceived in the society.
