Abstract

          The research purposes were to study:  (1) to study the mechanisms for the social welfare management of the elderly of local government organizations in Chainat province; and (2) to study their social welfare management of the elderly This was mixed method research. The population of quantitative research included 167,803 elderly of local government organizations in Chainat province; the sample group consisted of 400 elderly people. The qualitative research: key informants were the 10 mayors and chief executives of subdistrict administrative organizations. The research instruments were the questionnaire, and structured interview form. The data analysis statistics were the mean, standard deviation, and multiple regression analysis.

           The research findings were:

  1. The mechanisms for the social welfare management of the elderly of local government organizations in Chainat province with all aspects were at high levels; by the well-being of the elderly was at the highest level; the regression coefficient and determination coefficient of 0.78 had the predictability of the results 78 percent.
  2. The social welfare management of the elderly of local government organizations in Chainat province showed: (1) the aspect of health and medical care identification cards were issued to the elderly for treatment in hospitals free of charge; (2) the aspect of income there was the Community Elderly Welfare Promotion Fund; (3) the aspect of housing, family support services they provided for elderly people living alone or homeless; (4) the aspect of recreation there was the center for news and social gatherings for the elderly; (5) the aspect of social security, families, caregivers, and protection they provided the convenience and safety for the elderly; and (6) the aspect of creating services, networks and support there was the daytime care center for the elderly, home visiting services, and the system to care for the elderly in the community
