Democratic Political Participations through the Islamic Principles of Thai Muslim Youth

Abstract

          This research article were: 1) to investigate the level of democratic political participations through the Islamic principles of Thai Muslim youth; 2) to study the factors influencing democratic political participation through the Islamic concepts of Thai Muslim youth; and 3) to provide recommendations to promote democratic political participation through the Islamic principles of Thai Muslim youth. This was a quantitative research and used questionnaires as a data collection tool. The sample consisted of 400 Thai Muslim youths. The statistical instruments were mean, percentage, S.D., t-Test, One Way ANOVA, and Pearson’s Moment Product Correlation.

           The research showed that 1) the level of the democratic political participations through the Islamic principles of Thai Muslim youth was at a high level; and 2) the differences in individual factors including gender, age, education level, occupation, and family income level affected  the various levels of democratic political participations through the Islamic principles of Thai Muslim youth at a statistical significant level of .05, and group-influence factors, context factors, and cultural influence factors had a positive relationship on the level of democratic political participation through the Islamic principles of Thai Muslim youth; 3) The recommendations for the level of democratic political participation through Islamic concepts of Thai Muslim youth should include values, knowledge, and understanding, consistent with the Islamic principles, encourage the young people to participate in politics appropriately.
