Abstract

The purpose of this study is to study the femininity and the Ideology in novels of Niphon Thiengtham. Three novels were studied: Toong Sanaeha, Krong Kam, and Ongkan Borihan SuanHuacai. The documentary research and textual analysis are a studying tool.

The research findings reveals that 1) In the Thai society, a mother is the person giving life to her child, providing guidance and motivation, giving her own children opportunities, understanding and supporting her own children. She is teaching her own children to become good people, working together to solve problems for children, and protecting them at all times. So, their own children are able to lead a happy life without receiving any illness from outside society. 2)  Good daughters in the Thai society are constantly praised by the societies both inside and outside. They are always aware that parents are persons very grateful to their children. The parents give life and who cares them from childhood until adulthood; and as a child, you must be grateful to your parents. When the parents are sick, they must be taken to the hospital for medical treatment. So, the daughters must do everything to make their parents happy. It also reflects that the Thai society is considered as a society with the great importance on gratitude. Therefore, it further reflects the characteristics of the ideology of being a good daughter in terms of showing gratitude to parents.
