Abstract

          The purpose of this study was to investigate the leadership of the school administrators affecting community participation in schools and the guidelines for improving leadership of the school administrators affecting community participation in schools under the Office of Sakon Nakhon Primary Educational Service Area 3. The sample of this study were 326 participants comprising school administrators and teachers who were selected using multi-stage random sampling. The instrument used in data collection was a set of 5-rating scale questionnaire which contained a part of questions on leadership of administrators indicated validity index ranged between 0.60-1.00, discrimination power index ranged between 0.26-0.90 and reliability index was at 0.98, and another part comprised questions on community participation in schools indicated validity index ranged between 0.80-1.00, discrimination power index ranged between 0.36-0.87 and reliability index was at 0.97. Statistics used in data analysis were frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, Pearson’s product-moment correlation and stepwise multiple regression analysis.

           The findings were as follows

  1. The relationship between leadership of school administrators and community participation in schools showed high level of positive correlation with statistical significance at .01.
  2. The leadership of school administrators in individualized consideration (X6), transformational leadership (X4) and inspirational leadership (X5) were able to predict the community participation in schools (Y) with statistical significance at .01, and obtained a predictive power at 72.50 percent.
  3. The guidelines for improving the leadership of school administrators affecting community participation in schools under the Office of Sakon Nakhon Primary Educational Service Area 3, comprised three aspects, namely individualized consideration, transformational leadership and inspirational leadership.
