Research Analysis and Synthesis of Airline Business in Thailand: Approaches to the Development of Economic Dimension

Today, there is an increasing number of studies in relation to airline business, following the expansions of aviation industry in Thailand, for example, studies related to passenger opinions, satisfactions, service quality, and marketing factors. These studies have the goals to promote the economic growth of airline business. However, if there is a collection of these studies by synthesizing them to provide the integrated knowledge, this will greatly benefit the airline business. This research has the objectives to 1) explore the preliminary information of research works in regard to economic growth of airline business in Thailand during the past 10 years and 2) synthesize such research works to provide a broad view of knowledge regarding airline business in Thailand. The study will be a good source of information for future research studies and for the implementations of airline business. This study collects data from academic database from TCI and Google Scholar as well as uses content analysis and descriptive statistics to analyze and present the data.
According to the findings, it was found that 1) there was a total of 47 studies regarding airline business in Thailand during the past 10 years. Most studies were quantitative studies while customer satisfactions; 2) the synthesis of research works, it was divided into 5 issues: (1) service quality elements of airline business, (2) the roles and the importance of airline business’s service quality, (3) knowledge in regard to marketing (4) knowledge in regard to customer satisfactions, and (5) management approaches of airline business. In this regard, airline practitioners may implement the knowledge from this research to develop their works within the airline business for the sake of economics sustainability.
