Public Attitudes towards Participation in LGBTQ Pride Month Activities in Bangkok

Abstract

          The objectives of this research were: 1. to study the participation levels of the LGBTQ   community in Bangkok; 2.to study factors related to the participation of the LGBTQ community in Bangkok, and 3.to develop public policy recommendations on participation in social movement based on a case study of the LGBTQ community in Bangkok. It was a quantitative research; data were collected from a sample of 400 locals residing in Bangkok by an online questionnaire as a research instrument.

           The findings showed that overall participation of the LGBTQ community in Bangkok was at a high level. When the personal factors were considered, the sample with different diversity of genders, ages, educational levels and occupations had various attitudes towards LGBTQ participation. In addition, the factors related to attitudes of people in Bangkok towards the participation of the LGBTQ community in Bangkok were positively associated with collective behavior, rights and freedoms, and participation of the LGBTQ community.
