Participations in the Elderly Health Care Promotion in Bang Khen Market Community, Lak Si District, Bangkok

The aims of this research were to 1) study the level of participation in the elderly health care promotion in Bang Khen Market Community, Lak Si District, Bangkok; 2) compare the level of participation in the elderly health care promotion in Bang Khen Market Community, Lak Si District, Bangkok according to caregivers attitudes classified by personal factors; and 3) study the problems and suggestions for participation in the elderly health care promotion.The samples used in this research included 81 elderly caregivers.The research instrument was a questionnaire.Statistic measurements used for data analysis were frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation, t-test, f-test (One-way ANOVA). The results revealed that 1) the level of participation in the elderly health care promotion in Bang Khen Market Community, Lak Si District, Bangkok in overall, was at a moderate level; 2) the elderly caregivers with different genders, ages, educational levels and occupations had no different participations, while the elderly caregivers with diversity of marital statuses and average monthly income had different participations with the statistical significance at the 0.05 level; 3) problems and suggestions were as follows: for problems, caregivers were lacking of knowledge and understanding in caring for the elderly and lacking of coordination with government agencies with advisory provisions. For suggestions, there is an important issue: the community should provide caregivers with the elderly trainings and care manuals, establish networks and apply technology to promote care for the elderly.
