Public Participation in Community Planning: A case study of Wang Itok Subdistrict Bang Rakam District, Phitsanulok Province

Abstract

          The objectives of this research article were 1) to study the level of public participation in Community Planning at Wang Itok Subdistrict, Bang Rakam District, Phitsanulok Province; and 2) to study and compare the level of public participation in Community Planning classified by personal factors.  It was quantitative research using a questionnaire with a reliability of .97 The total population was 4,481 people and the sample included 354 community leaders and people the Wang Itok area. The research tools were questionnaires. The data were analyzed by using percentage, mean, standard deviation, and variant analysis.

           The findings revealed that

  1. The public participation in Community Planning at Wang Itok Subdistrict, Bang Rakam District, Phitsanulok Province overall was at a moderate level (mean =3.12)
  2. The comparative result of public participation in Community Planning regarding genders, did not show differences in the public participation in Community Planning; in terms of different ages, there was no differences in decision making; however, there were differences in the operation, benefit receiving, and evaluation. The educational levels did not show the different decision making; nonetheless, they resulted in the participation in operation and in the evaluation difference. The different careers resulted in the public participation in the community planning with a significant difference at 0.05.
