Elderly Policy for Promoting a Good Quality of Life

Nowadays, Thai society has being aging completely due to the increasing number of the elderly population. The number of elderly people aged 60 years and over is greater than those in working age, as the main population driving the society's economy; therefore, it is the duty of the government to give importance to the elderly policy in the short term, and long-term to serve as a framework for determining strategies both now and in the future, promoting the elderly’s good quality of life through the welfare mechanisms. The government with its agency networks appropriately allocated them, and had to monitor their developments in the most efficient actions.
All genders and ages must be aware of the importance of preparation and management with changes in physical and mental conditions, and societies. When the elderly in society have knowledge, ability and potential, they are ready to help each other. Therefore, the quality preparation for the elderly will consist of four good qualities: 1) good thinking, 2) good wisdom, 3) good health, and 4) good society.
