Impacts of Megatrend Perceptions on the Preparation Behavior for Career Readiness of Workers in the Tourism Industry

Abstract

          The objectives of this research were: 1) to study perceptions of megatrends that affect occupations of workers in the tourism industry; 2) to study behaviors of career readiness among workers in the tourism industry; and 3) to find the relationship between awareness of megatrends and career readiness behaviors of workers in the tourism industry. The education levels and the impact of COVID 2019 were the moderator variables. This study was a quantitative research, by questionnaires for data collection from 400 workers in the tourism industry.

           The results showed that.

  1. Megatrend perception of labor in the tourism industry was found to be moderate.
  2. Career readiness behaviors of workers in the tourism industry was high.
  3. The perception of megatrends influences the career preparation behavior. The education levels and megatrend perception had impacts on the career readiness behavior with the impact of COVID 2019 and the level of education as a moderator variable.
