Abstract

     This study was conducted to investigate the processes for enhancing learning skills and transferring creative Buddhist-oriented learning skills of the right livelihood communities in Phrae province. Applying mixed method approach, the 10 key informants, consisting of community leaders, teak product entrepreneurs both manufacturers and distributors, village sage, and local experts, were selected. The participants of this study were 20 youths and 20 persons interested in training programs for developing their learning skills. The research instruments consisted of interview, short course training curriculum, and knowledge evaluation form. The data were analyzed by applying content analysis and t-test in order to evaluate post-workshop knowledge.

           The results were found as follows

  1. The processes for enhancing learning skills through the creative Buddhist ways of right livelihood communities originated from local wisdom, transmitted from generation to generation. They were familiar with woodworking. the teak products were developed for the markets. Regarded as wisdom heritage, the product creation skills came from learning, testing, and making. However, product design skills and product development had to be improved.
  2. The important process of transferring the creative Buddhist-oriented learning skills of right livelihood communities in Phrae province was to organize workshops and collaborate with the local scholars and experts specialized in teak product design and development. To promote the creative Buddhist-oriented learning skills required 20 hours for helping individuals specialize in teak product design-both their knowledge and skills.
  3. In terms of learning skill evaluation, generally the participants’ opinions were different at a significant level of 05. In terms of knowledge, participants’ post-test scores were higher than the pre-test scores. Most of them were interested in activity participations.
